Tucked between Napa and Sonoma Valley in St. Helena, California is Knights Valley. This largely unknown region is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) covering approximately 37,000 acres (150 km2) of fertile landscape.
Born and raised in Champagne, France, where his family continues their legacy of producing barrel-fermented wines, Luc Morlet started Morlet Family Vineyards in 2006 with his wife, Jodie. Planting his wines on the west side of Mt. Saint Helena, his vineyard boasts the ideal elevation and temperature variation for the cultivation of Bordeaux grapes.
With a decade of experience honing his expertise in century old principles and classic Burgundy and Bordeaux methods, Morlet appreciates and embraces Old World traditions. His wines have received numerous accolades and “across-the-board astronomic scores… from all sides of the wine writing establishment.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Morlet recently took a keen interest in the Italian-made products by Ciani Atelier, available nationwide in the U.S.A., exclusively through Anne Thull Fine Art Designs of Carmel by the Sea, CA. Based in Florence, Ciani has been a family-run business since 1939, using wrought iron forging and fine finishing techniques to manufacturer indoor and outdoor furniture. Their old-world techniques and traditions result in stunning furnishings that today decorate the likes of palaces, private estates and five star hotels around the world.
Fittingly, the picturesque gates of the Morlet Family Vineyards now feature an iron bell by Ciani Atelier. In the coming months, an exquisite Ciani-made table will also be sent to vineyard.
