"....There will always be someone who can do something better than I can and others who will not be as good. It seemed to be a never-ending game that I did not want to play. Since only I knew what I was truly capable of, it seemed logical to compete only with myself. As I practiced doing this, I found that I was never bored and I never allowed myself to say I couldn't do something I was interested in. This helped me to focus on always improving myself, and most importantly, I knew I could fail only if I gave up. Often, when I was trying to solve a difficult problem, I would remind myself, “Someone is going to have to figure this out, so it may as well be me!” That altered my frame of mind, and made the problem feel workable so it was easier and faster to solve.

Listen to yourself: Only you really know what you are truly capable of! If you ever doubt yourself, just remember what Prentice Mulford taught, “Thoughts are things.”
